My Journey

By Aparna Bandyopadhyay

Contributory Author for Spark Igniting Minds

When Tomas Bata came,

the town became bigger.

Batanagar became the development trigger.

As I came into the city, so large,

The bustle was as heady as a fully stocked barge!

Near and far, my reputation took wings,

I was a novelty then and the happy child sings.

For Children and ladies, Gents and dandies,

Was pride of all, much loved as candies!

Every year as the schools reopen,

I make the family pride awaken.

Papas and mamas, watch the twinkling eyes

Of their children on their countless tries!

Years passed by, the world then opens,

To a world of varieties, new brands have spoken.

Like the forgotten Royalty, my sun is now setting.

On precious Bata shoes, now no one is betting!
