I am full of confidence
As I stride in life with lufe.
I have such faith in me,
As I think, life just a spoof.
The world is just my fiefdom
As I look down as a ruler,
All will have to abide by me,
And I tolerate no spoiler.
Then, I met that tiny bud,
At my garden full of bloom.
I commanded it to open its petals
It didn't unfurl it's plume.
The clouds refused to rain for me,
The seeds refused to grow.
The river refused to turn its course,
The worm refused to glow.
I moved ahead and came across,
The eggs with mother hen;
I ordered them to hatch along,
Their silence awoke me then.
Arrogance has its come uppance,
As I get too big for my boots;
Today as I yield the stick,
Tomorrow I will get only hoots!
How can I compare myself
To God! along my stride;
My eyes were open wide today,
Shamed was I, it was all my pride!
