But mamma, what is the point of calling Ganesh Jee and then giving him farewell when you say that He is omnipresent, you only said, God, resides in all of us as the God particle in all…what's the word!!! Jeevatma, replied Uma to her teenage daughter Radhika who was helping her in preparing Modak.
Ya, so when Paramatma is residing in all of us as Jeevatma where is the question of arrival and departure comes?
Uma stroked her daughter’s head affectionately and replied, good question Radha! So Ganeshotsav is symbolic, technically Ganesh Jee never arrives or leaves, He is timeless, He is past, present, and future. The festival symbolizes the life cycle, one who has come will go one day and for one who has left, arrival is certain, 'that’s what life is'. So what’s the point of living then? Radhika rolled her eyes and asked.
Do we think like that for Ganeshotsav as well? No right, we celebrate it with full enthusiasm and bid adieu him in celebration. Isn’t it? Radhika nodded.
So that applies to life as well, continued Uma, the time between the arrival and departure must be like a celebration. Life is meant to be celebrated, even when we know that one day we have to depart. That’s what Lord Ganpati is trying to teach us, it’s is the essence of Ganeshotsav. Radhika seemed quite happy with the explanation. She exclaimed, wow! 'I am going to tell this to my friends, they had the same question'. Achcha mamma, enough of helping you… I am going out to play with my friends.
Okay, make sure you return for the Aarti.
Of course Maa, bye see you!
Uma looked at the plate which had modak prepared by Radhika, she noticed that 5 of them made after getting her answer are better than the previous ones.
